Optimizing student opportunities

You are here: Home >> Parents

Welcome Parents

Hello parents! We’re glad you are visiting the Mid-Willamette Education Consortium site that is just for you. Inside you will find lots of great information on how your son or daughter can earn college credit in high school, use Career Pathways as a tool for planning the future now, get involved in youth leadership programs, or find out what resources are available for “life after high school”. We hope you enjoy the site!

Welcome!

Now that you are here,

let’s get started on mapping out the

next steps on your

career pathway.

  • Select a pathway template from the list below. Don’t be shy, you can choose

as many as you want. It’s all about what type of careers have captured your student's interest.

  • Simply print out the templates you want, and then have your student take them to their school counselor, advisor, parent or guardian, etc. In fact, they can work on this with as many people as they ’d like!
  • It’s all about them and the plan they want to make as they create their future!

  • You’ll see areas of the template that the student gets to fill in as they decide what classes to take in high school. These classes are the ones that will prepare them for what they want to do when they graduate; and since they match what their interests are they’ll enjoy taking them!

(Click on postcard above to see what College Credit Now courses

are available at your high school.)

College Credit Now
Each year more than 5,000 students in our local area earn college credit while in high school through College Credit Now. For $25 per course, this is a great deal! College Credit Now is different than Advanced Placement or the International Baccalaureate program and is available at most of the high schools in Marion, Polk, and Yamhill counties. Click on your child’s high school to learn which courses and teachers are available.

College Credit Now Success Stories
Look inside this section to see the successes of past high school students and their experiences of earning college credit while in high school. If you would like to tell us your child’s story, please email Jane Minard and we will include it in this section.

40 Development Assets
Each time you help your son or daughter with homework, attend their band concert, or provide them with chores to do you are providing them with tools for a healthy and happy life. These are just a few examples of what the 40 Developmental Assets are all about. To learn more about the assets and how you can further enrich the lives of young people. Visit their website: www.buildingassets.org
